Friendship-bracelets.net

My status: Active, fixing bugs in my spare time.

A site about the knotting technique of friendship bracelets. It might sound strange, but that’s my biggest project. It all started in the ninth grade in sewing class. As most other boys in our class, I was a bit reluctant to the sewing thing. Instead, I took a look into some books that I found in a back room. One was about friendship bracelets, and my fascination for math kicked in as I read how the strings and colors were permuted in beautiful patterns. Of course, I had to explore how these charts could be “solved” using the final pattern as a constraint. Some patterns could be solved, some not.

Anyway, I implemented it all in a PHP application that used PHPs GD library. This application made it possible for me to generate any pattern given starting colors and knots. Other internet users liked it also, and the number of users increased very much as I turned it all into a community instead of just an application. Today there are over 20,000 patterns and I got over 20,000 visitors per day.

Macrame

A site about Macrame that was planned to be as big as the friendship bracelet site, but it didn’t grow as much as I thought. Anyway, it exists for interested people.

My status: Not active, will probably finish the project in the future.

This is a tool I developed partly for “Studienämnden” when I worked at the university. This one is more general though, a little more tweaked and soon translated into english.

The main idea behind the tools is to be able to make evaluations easily and free. Go ahead and try it.

“Röda Tråden” is a planning tool for education. I’m currently working hard on this project.

A case event site i set up for a couple of economists. I’m not very updated about their project but the site’s a WordPress with a custom template. There is also a PHPList installation so they can send out mass mail to their members.

My status: Not active, will probably finish the project in the future.

A song book application I started when I wanted to share some songs with friends and the GHD Nation. The site is not finished yet, but it works to some extent.
